Vitamin A is a fat-soluble nutrient that promotes normal vision, contributes to growth of bones, teeth and soft tissue, and it maintains the integrity of the skin. Beta carotene is the precursor to the active form of vitamin A.
Vitamin A deficiencies can result in chronic infections, hypothyroidism, protein malnutrition and liver disease. Life Extension® offers this Vitamin A test to measure beta carotene. This test evaluates the body’s ability to synthesize Vitamin A.
Fasting for 12 hours is required for this test. Please make sure to drink plenty of water and take all medications as prescribed.
