What is the Best Form of CBD? – Suppositories, Sandwiches & Everything in Between

What is the Best Form of CBD? – Suppositories, Sandwiches & More, hemp, blog, dr vitamin solutions, quicksilver scientific You’ve heard about it from friends, you’ve seen it in the checkout line at your grocery store, and now they’re even putting the stuff on your burger! You already know the name, but here it goes anyway: CBD. It’s EVERYWHERE!

To the uninitiated, CBD must seem like some kind of alien invader: It’s green, it’s foreign to most people, and it’s taking over the entire planet. Are you safe? Is your family safe? The obvious answer is yes, but that doesn’t make the invasion any less overwhelming…

While it’s easy enough to ignore the hordes of CBD gummies which litter checkout aisles the world over, certain forms of CBD are WORTH paying attention to. So, how to separate the wheat from the chaff; the fact from the fiction? Most importantly: What is the best form of CBD for YOU (yes you, dear reader) and YOUR BODY? Let’s dive in!

Know Your Hemp-story

I’m going to assume, if you’ve read this far, that you already know the basics on what CBD is. If not, here’s a lovely blog post from your favorite health and wellness company (that’s us) to explain.

With all that boring stuff out of the way, let’s unpack a brief little CBD and Hemp history lesson:

A chemical compound known as cannabidiol (CBD) was first identified in the year 1940 by researchers at the University of Illinois. (1) Seems like a fitting place for our story to begin, right? WRONG!

As it turns out, cannabis is one of the very oldest plants on Earth and records of its cultivation date back as far as 8000 BCE. (2) Meanwhile, documentation of cannabis usage in medical practices is similarly ancient. It all started (as with so many things) in China, as far back as 2700 years ago.

That’s right, folks. Archeological discoveries from a 2700-year-old tomb in the Yanghai region of China’s Xinjiang province indicate that drug biotypes from cannabis have been involved in Chinese society since ancient times.

bencao, tcm, traditional chinese medicine While there is some debate over whether cannabis was used primarily for its fibrous qualities or for its chemical properties in broader Chinese society, certain pieces of bencao literature (Chinese medical texts) have helped to distinguish between the practical applications of hemp fiber and the use of cannabis in ancient Chinese medicinal practices. (3)

However, unlike so many other components of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the Chinese history and approach to medicinal cannabis usage has been largely forgotten in the western world. This is due primarily to legal issues which have surrounded the plant, particularly its flowering varieties (often referred to as marijuana) which are well known for producing mind-altering effects.

Even when American researchers picked up the ball of medicinal cannabis research in the late 30’s and early 40’s, their efforts were very poorly timed, and ended up in vein. Only a few short years later the United States would roll out sweeping federal bans of the plant in ALL of its varieties. Sadly, this included hemp – a strain of cannabis which does not produce significant quantities of the mind-altering chemical compound known as THC.

This meant that any scientific progress into the nature of CBD and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids was halted in American medical institutions for decades to come. And now… Here we are! Back to the present day.

The CBD Burger

cbd burger

No, this isn’t an accurate representation of the famous CBD burger, but you get the idea. Hungry now?

That was a big jump, huh? One minute we’re rummaging through ancient Chinese tombs, discussing the hasty prohibition of hemp at the hands of the US government, and now this: The CBD Burger. Society sure has come a long way in these 2700 years…

With so many insane applications of CBD coming to the market like a herd of rampaging bulls, it’s easy to see why people look at the whole movement like some trashy fad, or even as a bunch of BS.

This interpretation is partially correct, but it’s important not to overlook the long and turbulent history of CBD when evaluating its current standing in the market.

Humans have been aware of the valuable medical properties of cannabis for literally thousands of years, yet so many in modern times have been prevented from accessing or even exploring these properties.

Now the legal flood gates have almost entirely lifted on hemp with the signing of the 2018 Farm Bill. (4) So, is it any big wonder that all of this consumer demand has come rushing out? And is it any greater wonder that fast food corporations have swooped in to capitalize on that demand? Of course not!

BUT (and it’s a big but) none of those factors reflect on the actual health properties of CBD – properties which are being validated in more and more clinical studies with each passing day. There are perfectly good reasons to be skeptical of CBD and its usefulness to the general public, but the existence of the CBD burger is not one of them.

A Match Made in Hemp Heaven

Now we’ve spent quite enough time wallowing through sub-par CBD products. Let’s get to the good stuff!

If you’re already committed to trying out some CBD, then there are two primary factors which need to be addressed:

  1. Trust
  2. Bioavailability
hemp oil

Hemp oil sure looks beautiful, but do any of us know what’s going on beneath the surface?

Trust is such a big factor in the current CBD market because it is largely unregulated. This means that sleazy companies will have a relatively easy time watering down their products, or otherwise offering misleading and inferior dosages of CBD.

For this reason, it may be wise to stick with trusted and established supplement manufacturers when selecting a CBD product. Companies like Quicksilver Scientific have a long history of trust and credibility with a wide body of customers. While companies like this have equal opportunity to offer low-quality CBD products, they are much less likely to take advantage of this opportunity at the risk of tarnishing the reputation of their sizable brand.

The FDA may not have a hand in regulating the quality of CBD products, but consumers certainly do, and it’s not particularly difficult to test for CBD levels in hemp oil. Ideally, companies with a sizable reputation to lose will still have to beware of savvy consumers and investigative journalists closely scrutinizing their products. Until the FDA moves in, this level of consumer accountability is all we have to bank on.

Now, let’s discuss bioavailability. This issue also has a lot to do with the newness of CBD products in general. While most other nutritional products have undergone extensive clinical testing to determine optimal dosages, delivery methods, and overall bioavailability, clinical research on CBD is still in its infancy.

As such, much less is known about how the body absorbs and processes CBD when compared to a common ingredient like Vitamin D3. It also means that manufacturers are lacking in guidance on how to best deliver hemp oil and CBD to the body.

This is yet another reason to recommend Quicksilver Scientific’s line of CBD products. Not only is their entire brand based around finding novel and effective nutrient delivery methods, they also engage in rigorous in-house testing to make up for the lack of clinical insight in this particular field. (5)

Finally, Quicksilver also has you covered in terms of variety. Their current CBD product selection includes a Full Spectrum Hemp Extract (contains traces of THC), a Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract (completely free of THC), as well as a line of CBD Synergies products which combine their hemp oils with key nutrients to aid in the most popular uses for CBD: Pain, Anxiety, and Sleep.

Last Butt Not Least

Turns out that one of the most obscure forms of CBD delivery might also be one of the most effective. In case the subtitle didn’t give it away, we’re talking about suppositories here.

While it’s no big news that suppositories have a long history as a highly potent method of nutrient delivery, hemp oil suppositories are a very recent innovation. As we have long been a trusted supplier of quality nutritional suppositories, DR Vitamin Solutions carries several options in this niche: PurO3 Ozonated Hemp Suppositories, PurO3 Full Spectrum Menstrual Relief Suppositories, and our very own brand of VitalTox Hemp Oil Suppositories.

If you’re a suppository user looking to try CBD, or a CBD fan who wants to experiment with the most powerful products on the market – all of the above options are worth trying out.

Conclusion

Now, let’s wrap this whole thing up: If you’re seeking the best form of CBD for your body, then we highly recommend you take a look at Quicksilver Scientific’s line of CBD products. There’s enough variety and quality assurance to go around for everyone!

Finally, don’t let the CBD burgers of the world get you down. Fads will come and go, but if you know your history then you know that hemp and CBD have already stood the test of time.
