CBD is taking the homepathic world by storm. It’s hard to take two steps today without being referred to CBD or Medical Marijuana.

Chronic pain? Someone’s going to suggest CBD. Crippling anxiety? It works for that too.

CBD is a low-toxic, all natural option without addictive side effects. The topics of THC and CBD products are becoming important conversations.

Let’s look at the history of CBD before we come to a conclusion. Educating yourself on the history of CBD, Hemp Oil Benefits and legal issues can help you decide if it is right for you.

The History of CBD

CBD, or Cannabidiol, has been used as medicine as early as 2900 B.C. Our ancient ancestors had no idea what powerful brain chemistry was at work when they first realized consuming CBD and THC to help them feel better.

Cannabis Marijuana, or Cannabis Sativa, was made illegal in the United States by the Food and Drugs Administration in the early 1930’s. Before the federal law ruling, liquid Cannabis Marijuana products were widely available in drug stores.

In 1862, Cannabis Sativa candy was advertised in Vanity Fair as a treatment for melancholy, anxiety dravet syndrome and childhood epilepsy. CBD and THC were labeled as harmless stimulants. Food and drug makers were required to list that cannabis was a component of their products in 1906. Between 1914 and 1925, 26 states had banned THC and CBD products.

By the 1930s, the Federal Government Prohibition laws banning alcohol were being repealed. However, federal law concerning marijuana and other CBD products retained illegal status over fear that it would be abused.

But Cannabidiol is an entirely different compound, and demands a closer look.

Summary- Marijuana has not always been illegal, it stays illegal over outdated fears of being abused.

What is CBD? The Difference Between CBD and THC

CBD stands for “Cannabidiol”, and it’s just one of at least 113 Cannabinoids present in Cannabis Marijuana.

Research and animal studies shows that CBD binds to the brain’s Cannabinoid receptors. These receptors help regulate brain systems that pertain to memory, appetite, mood and pain suppression. (1) It is commonly confused with THC, or Tetrahydrolcannabinal THC, the psychoactive compound that promotes euphoria.

CBD and THC are two different compounds in Cannabis Sativa. CBD is an exclusive compound because it does not stimulate C1 and C2 receptors causing a psychoactive experience. THC is the compound that promotes a psyochotic and euphoric experience by stimulating C1 and C2 receptors. Benefits of CBD include antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties without addictive side effects. Low toxicity gives it a compelling argument in the conversation of how to properly medicate anxiety and depression disorders.

Summary- CBD is a low toxic, anti psychotic compound that promotes relaxation.

CBD promotes feelings of relaxation and calmness without the Euphoric experience of THC.

6 Benefits of CBD

1. Relaxation Without Euphoria

CBD is an anti-psychotic agent. (2) It does not cause a psychoactive experience because it is the main non-psychoactive component in Cannabis Sativa. The U.S. National Library of Medicine labels it as being an anti-inflammatory compound with antioxidant and antipsychotic properties. (3)

THC is the compound in Cannabis Sativa which stimulates the C1 receptors and generates mind altering reactions. (4) Studies have shown that CBD does not stimulate C1 or C2 receptors. (4) This explains why CBD does not cause a psychoactive, mind altering experience.

Hemp plants, from which CBD is harvested, are a close cousin to marijuana plants. The difference is that Hemp contains trace amounts of Tetrahydracannabinol THC, the substance responsible for marijuana’s high.

Marijuana can be up to 30 percent THC.

That means CBD, or Cannabidiol oil, does not get you high because it does not deliver THC to the blood stream. You will experience all the medical benefits, such as relaxation; but you will not experience the euphoria of THC.

Summary- CBD promotes relaxation without the psychoactive experience.

2. Reduces Feelings of Anxiety and Depression

Relaxation and an overall feeling of calm make CBD a natural solution for anxiety and depression disorders.

CBD’s active compounds activate brain receptors that receive serotonin, a brain chemical that helps regulate mood. It acts similarly to a typical anti-psychotic drugs, and open clinical trials have proven it effective in treating even schizophrenia. Studies using animal and human models of anxiety have also shown it reduces fear responses in the case of those who struggle with social anxiety. The research suggests CBD might also be effective for those who suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. (5)

A study in 2011 found people with fear of public speaking experienced calmed nerves when using CBD before public engagement. (6) Anxiety and Depression symptoms might find relief in CBD oil.

Summary- Calming effect may lower levels of anxiety and depression

3. All Natural Pain Relief

Cannibidiol can also relieve pain, both acute and chronic.

CBD binds to the brain’s Endocannibinoid receptors. This means it can have a positive effect on how we process pain and anxiety. The relaxation aid of cannabidiol promotes pain management and physical health.

It may inhibit the transmission of pain signals along receptors, which translates to the patient as relief. A 2012 study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine from Rockefeller University Press found that the CBD Oil suppressed inflammation in animal studies. (7) In 2007, multiple sclerosis patients were effectively treated using a combination of cannabidiol oil and THC. (8)

Summary- CBD is a low-toxic, all natural solution for pain relief.

4. Can help clear Acne

Studies have shown 9.4 percent of the population is severely afflicted, according to a 2015 study. (9) CBD for treating acne naturally represents a potent solution in some cases. Acne is often triggered by hormones, or stress. Treat acne with its anti-inflammatory properties and using a hemp oil face mask for acne.

Summary- Anti-inflammatory properties make CBD a natural solution for acne.

5. Promotes Cardiovascular Health

In 2012, a study showed CBD positively impacting cardiovascular health. Even reducing diabetes through lowering inflammation throughout the body systems. (10)

A 2013 study suggests CBD has anti-inflammatory effects on neuroinflammation, epilepsy, oxidative injury, vomiting and nausea, anxiety and schizophrenia. (11) By reducing resting blood pressure, cannabidiol cuts down on inflammation in the heart, reducing risk of heart attack.

Summary- Reduced inflammation promotes superior cardiovascular health.

The low toxicity of CBD makes it a great natural solution.

6. Assistance for Cancer Patients

For cancer patients, Cannabidiol has been shown to reduce nausea caused by chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy drugs are designed to kill fast-growing cells in the body. The results of these medications can produce severe nausea and vomiting. CBD oil can help cut down on nausea and vomiting, and can also relieve neuropathic pain caused by powerful drugs. Clinical studies suggest that it may relieve neuropathic pain in patients with cancer-related pain. (12)

Summary- CBD can restore appetite and ease symptoms caused by powerful cancer drugs.

Side effects of CBD

While CBD is an entirely natural component, some people’s bodies tolerate it better than others. In some, consumption can result in a dry mouth or increased appetite. It can also cause diarrhea in some, or even vomiting.

CBD can interfere with certain blood pressure medications. Those who take prescription medication should look into whether cannabidiol oil will interact with their regimen.

Summary- For the amount of health benefits of CBD, its side effects are minimal.

Where to buy CBD
