Focus on These Four Pillars of Optimal Health and Well-Being

The goal for each person, I believe, should be to function at optimal health. This includes aspects of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.  To function at optimal health does not just mean the absence of symptoms, but it means that the body is functioning at a high level internally as well. We need to focus on a number of pillars that help us to function at optimal health.

Pillar One – Eat Healthy

Step one: Buy quality food that include fruits, vegetables and meats. This would include organic, non-GMO products.  If you buy a high quality healthy chicken and beef it can be a good source of nutrition.  I would suggest buying off a local farmer that raises their animals properly or buying them in a store that offers those kind of quality choices.
Step two: Read labels and do no buy foods with toxic ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, trans-fat or other harmful ingredients.
Step three: Prepare food in a healthy way.  I would suggest using your oven and not frying foods.  I eat 75% of vegetables raw and that greatly increases the nutrient value of them.
Step four: Focus on nutrient dense foods and add portion control in your menu planning.  Focusing on healthy eating is much more important than fad diets.

Pillar Two – Exercise

Step one: Set aside time to exercise at least 3 to 4 times a week.  This should include cardiovascular exercise as well as strength training exercises.  Make sure you warm up and stretch your muscles before each session.
Step two: Be consistent as this will be one of your biggest challenges.  This is essential if your exercise program is going to be successful.  I live in the Northeast so I have a plan I follow for the winter months and I do my exercise program in my basement. It is important to exercise throughout the year and not just in the nice weather.

Pillar Three – Make Wise Lifestyle Choices

Step one: Abstinence – We must make a conscious choice to refrain from things that will hurt our health such as Tobacco, alcohol, caffeine and other unwise choices.
Step two: Put the proper emphasis on the spiritual aspect of our life.  I personally read my bible and pray daily and go to church every week.  The spiritual aspect of our life should be our foundation and helps give our life the proper balance and focus.
Step three: Understand the importance of emotional health and managing stress properly.
Step four: Develop intellectual health by keeping yourself sharp and do things that you enjoy that help in this area.
Step five: Having good relationships with people, enhancing our social and communication skills.  At home, work, with family and friends we want our relationships to be healthy.  We should never allow bitterness or anger to become anchored in our heart.  This will hurt us spiritually, physically, emotionally and it may be devastating to our relationships.

Pillar Four – Take Quality Supplements

Step one: It is important to have good cell health.  The three best supplements for this are glutathione, ascorbate (buffered) C, and CoQ10.
Step two: Build your immune system and I suggest vitamin D and ascorbate C.
Step three: Keep your system free of toxins.  To help maintain good health in this area I suggest glutathione and ascorbate C.  If you are high in toxic metals there are some other things I would suggest in addition to that.  I suggest doing a colon cleanse at least once a year and preferably two times a year as you do not want your colon to be clogged.

Conclusion

When we function at optimal health it helps us in our service for God and to be able to do more with and for our family. I realize that some people have serious health issues beyond their control and have been used to bring great glory to God.  Those people are very inspirational to others as they maintain a wonderful testimony in difficult circumstances.  Here we are focusing on trying to prevent problems by taking practical steps in our life that we can control.  God bless and have a wonderful day.
