When detox pathways are clear, Chelation therapy is naturally promoted in the human body. I have included simple and inexpensive foods you can use for boosting the immune system.

Supplying the body with vitamins and minerals is a natural solution to promote year round detox. How it works: Garlic is dense in Manganese, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Selenium and Fiber. It promotes a healthy gut and detoxifies the liver from toxic heavy metals including: Lead, Mercury and Cadmium.

Garlic contains two natural compounds: Allicin and Sulfur. Allicin is a natural antimicrobial compound promoting liver detoxification. (1) The Israel Medical Association Journal suggests Allicin for natural detoxification to lower blood pressure, cholesterol and muscle soreness. (2)

Best ways to include Garlic in your Daily Diet- Garlic can be added to soups, stews and pasta sauces. You can take Garlic in supplement form if the taste or aroma is not agreeable with your system.

Summary- Allicin cleans the liver. Sulfur detoxifies the cells.

Try Garlic in your next pasta sauce.

2. Lemons – Antibacterial Powerhouses

Lemon is a natural anti-inflammatory agent.

How it works: Lemon is dense in Vitamin C, Potassium, Calcium, Phosphorus and Magnesium. The nutrients provide anti-inflammatory support. They also service as natural antibacterial agents strengthening the immune system to fight off infection.

The main compound in Lemon is Citric Acid.  Citric Acid is an organic, non-GMO acid. Concentrated in Lemons, Citric Acid protects the immune system from free radical damage and promotes detoxification of the liver and brain. (4)

Although Citric Acid is beneficial to detoxify the brain, the liver largely benefits from Citric Acid flushing toxins to the bladder. Recent scientific studies have shown that Citric Acid could promote detoxification of the kidneys and alleviate kidney stones. (5)

Best ways to include Lemon in your Daily Diet– Try adding Lemon to your first cup of water in the morning. Cold or warm is fine. This is a great habit to begin your day balancing your pH levels.

Summary- Citric Acid strengthens the immune system and cleans the liver of toxins.

3. Avocado Oil – How Fats Promote Detoxification

I am constantly finding myself impressed with its benefits for detoxification! Have you considered cooking your food in Avocado Oil? It is delicious!

How it works: High levels of Omega-3 Fatty Acids make Avocado Oil a beneficial food for the best detox. Omega-3 Oils help lubricate the intestinal walls of the stomach promoting superior digestive health and an overall environment for detoxification.

Toxins must bind to a fat for elimination. Coating the intestinal wall with Avocado provides the body with fats to bind toxins for removal through bladder. (6)

Once a toxin binds to fat, the body transfers the material to the large intestine for elimination through the bladder.

Best ways to include Avocado Oil in your Daily Diet- Avocado Oil works wonders on salads! You are not able to deep fry using Avocado Oil. This should not be a problem as the last thing your body needs is fried foods.

Summary- Avocado Oil makes it easy for toxins to be bound and eliminated.

Avocado oil has a neutral taste and can be a great salad dressing.

4. Wheat Grass – The More Greens, the Better

When it comes to detoxification, the more cruciferous vegetables the better.

Did you know 2 ounces of Wheatgrass is the equivalent to eating 4 pounds of Green Leafy Vegetables?

How it works: Wheat grass and other dark greens have high levels of Chlorophyl that promotes a strong immune system and detoxifies the blood. It can even help prevent cardiovascular disease. Wheat Grass has one of the highest levels of Chlorophyll, nearly 70%!

What does Chlorophyll do your body? The antioxidants found in Wheat Grass, Kale, Barley, Peas, Leeks, Spinach, Spirulina and Arugula target and eliminate fungus in the body. Chlorophyll reduces inflammation in the body, making it easier for nutrients to be absorbed into the blood stream. Reduced inflammation can also promote weight loss and decreased cholesterol levels.

Best ways to include Wheat Grass in your Daily Diet- Wheat Grass can be Juiced. I recommend adding juice or adding Wheat Grass to a Smoothie as the taste is rather strong. There are also Wheat Grass powders that can be added to a smoothie as well.

Green Tea has centuries of praise for its powerful antioxidant benefits. It is no wonder it is a staple in the healthiest diets on the planet. Some even go so far as to call Green Tea “The Worlds Healthiest Beverage.”

While this claim is unsubstantiated by science, I am a huge advocate for Green Tea Detoxification.

Does Green Tea remove toxins from the body? Green Tea is an antioxidant powerhouse, so the answer is yes! Science suggests that Green Tea re-hydrates the body and boosts circulation. (8)

Many have the wrong idea that Green Tea dehydrates the body. Antioxidants in Green Tea clean the blood and improve digestion in the body. The result of these two benefits is improved toxin removal without dehydration.

How it works: Green Tea detoxifies the liver with Polyphenols. Most of the Polyphenols in Green Tea are Flavanols, also known as Catechins. Polyphenols are anti-inflammatory agents. These agents decrease oxidative stress and inflammation in the body.

Weight loss is an additional benefit of Green Tea. You only need 2 cups of Green Tea per day to promote weight loss in the body. The catechin antioxidants in Green Tea target abdominal belly fat. (9) Drinking Green Tea before an aerobic workout can stimulate catechins to promote belly fat removal. Drinking Green Tea will not replace a nutrient-dense diet low in GMO foods. However, it will complement lifestyles that consist of raw and organic fruits and vegetables.
